New daily manager at GulenSkyss
As of July 1, 2020, our owner Per Vold will step down as CEO of GulenSkyss AS.
Per has been the general manager for 49 years, ever since he started the business in 1971 as the founder of Per Vold reiarlag, later Gulen Skyssbåtservice AS. Here he worked both as general manager and skipper in an exciting and demanding transportation business. He drove both school and rural routes, and was a transport for doctors, priests, veterinarians, and others who needed maritime transport.
From 2014, the shipping company began operating both shuttle boats and ferries and therefore changed its name to GulenSkyss AS.
Per Vold will still be involved in the shipping company even though there will now be a new general manager.
The new CEO of GulenSkyss AS is Frode Sønstabø. Frode is 48 years old, grew up in Espevær, but lives with his wife and two children in Husnes. He is a qualified sea captain and was involved in running the family-owned company Sønstabø Shipping until it was sold in 2005. In the same year, he started at Eide Marine Services, where he was captain of an AHTS and submersible heavy lift vessel, before going ashore and becoming an inspector, project manager and later CEO at Eide Marine Design. For the past 4 years, he has worked as a consultant in his own business with a main focus on project development and services to the maritime and offshore industry.
Frode will work from the office in Eivindvik.
GulenSkyss currently operates the connections: Espevær-Eidesvik, Hellesøy-Hernar.
Ferry route between Daløy-Haldorsneset and between Mjånes-Hisarøy.
In addition, we operate Norway's busiest ambulance boat in Sunnhordland.
GulenSkyss AS is today a modern shipping company with 30 skilled employees and is in a good position for further growth.
